История
Founded in 1947, the Parramatta Eels represent the western suburbs of Sydney — a working-class heartland that has produced rugby league players for generations. The club joined the NSWRL competition in 1947 and spent their early decades as a competitive but trophy-less side before their golden era arrived in the 1980s. Under coach Jack Gibson and later Terry Fearnley, the Eels won three consecutive premierships in 1981, 1982, and 1983 — a feat matched by only a handful of clubs in the competition's history — and added a fourth title in 1986.

Blue and gold — the Eels' colours are among the most recognisable in rugby league. The combination has been the club's signature since their early years and gives Parramatta an identity that is instantly associated with western Sydney and the working-class communities the club represents.
