Founded in 1932, Real Zaragoza spent much of the 20th century as a La Liga regular and won six Copa del Rey titles, making them one of Spain's most decorated cup sides. Their greatest European moment came in 1995 when they won the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, defeating Arsenal 2–1 in the final in Paris with a stunning last-minute winner from Nayim — one of the most famous goals in European football history.
Zaragoza have struggled to maintain top-flight status in recent decades but retain a passionate fanbase in Aragon and a proud identity. Their new Estadio La Romareda is being developed to provide a modern home worthy of the club's ambitions, and the push for promotion back to La Liga remains the driving force at the club.
